Kanha National Park, Visit Kanha for Jungle Safari
Kanha National park is one of the most popular wildlife expanse and that explains why it has one of the best tourist infrastructure.
It was popular as a wildlife destination even when it was not officially declared protected by the government. Kanha is the largest wildlife sanctuary in Asia and is the most stunning success story of Project Tiger. The population of the tigers have doubled over here since 1976. Sal and bamboo forests, vast grasslands and numerous streams, these are reasons enough for abundance of wildlife species in the Kanha National park.
Safari Options at Kanha
Kanha National Park started out as a hunting ground but the public outcry forced the government to take corrective measures. Now the adventure has adapted itself with the new situation and safaris have come up as a new adventure option. You could either choose a jeep safari or an elephant safari which are allowed only during the day. Over the years, the animals have adapted themselves to the presence of tourists in their vicinity and sighting an animal is not that uncommon.

The series of plateaus called Kanha has bamboo thickets, grasslands spread over a vast area and dense sal forests. Important animals to be found here are tiger, barahsingha deer, leopard, the wolves, gaur, tiny mouse deer, porcupines, jackals, sloth bear, jungle cat, dhole etc.
Approximately 200 species of birds are found at the Kanha National Park.
